Reheat flames response to entropy waves

چکیده

Sequential combustion architectures rely on auto-ignition flame stabilization in the second stage combustor. Due to exponential temperature dependence of ignition delay time flames can respond hot spots generated by unsteady first combustion. In this paper, response is investigated extending an existing analytical model for acoustic waves so that it also accounts entropy waves. Explicit expressions transfer functions and linear non-linear transition thresholds are derived. Results different operating conditions, forcing amplitudes frequencies discussed. For this, three computational domains increasing complexity considered validation: a 2D duct, 3D backward facing step, finally full-scale Ansaldo Energia GT26 sequential Unsteady Reynold-averaged Navier–Stokes as well large-eddy simulations performed. Acoustic entropic contributions separated means system identification techniques. Finally, identified. It observed gains linearly increase with excitation frequency non-linear, dependent effects already small amplitude levels excitation.

Temperature response of turbulent premixed flames to inlet velocity oscillations

Flame–turbulence interactions are at the heart of modern combustion research as they have a major influence on efficiency, stability of operation and pollutant emissions. The problem remains a formidable challenge, and predictive modelling and the implementation of active control measures both rely on further fundamental measurements. Model burners with simple geometry offer an opportunity for ...

Dynamic Response of Strained Premixed Flames to Equivalence Ratio Gradients

Premixed flames encounter gradients of mixture equivalence ratio in stratified charge engines, lean premixed gas-turbine engines, and a variety of other applications. In cases for which the scales—spatial or temporal—of fuel concentration gradients in the reactants are comparable to flame scales, changes in burning rate, flammability limits, and flame structure have been observed. This paper us...

Structure and Dynamics of Modulated Traveling Waves in Cellular Flames

We describe the formation and evolution of spatial and temporal patterns in cylindrical premixed flames. We consider the cellular regime, Le < 1, where the Lewis number Le is the ratio of thermal to mass diffusivity of a deficient component of the combustible mixture. A transition from stationary, axisymmetric flames to stationary cellular flames is predicted analytically if Le is decreased bel...

Dynamic Response Analysis of Automatic Generation Control in a 2 - Area ( Reheat & Non - Reheat ) Interconnected Power System and a Scheme for Improvement of Response for the Same

Abstract: In the present work, we focus on the study of dynamic behavior of an interconnected two-area power system and a scheme for improvement of response for the same. Here, two-area system with one non-reheat thermal units & one reheat thermal units is considered. The frequency and tie-line power deviation of two units are studied using MATLAB-SIMULINK in continuous time domain and also in ...

Reheat furnace scheduling with energy consideration

This paper focuses on the reheat furnace scheduling problem (RFSP) which is to assign the slabs to the reheat furnace, make the slab sequence for each furnace and determine the feed-in time and the residence time for each slab in order to reduce the unnecessary energy consumption reflected by minimising the objective under consideration. Differing from the traditional scheduling problem, the ac...
